Strawberry Has Arrived and it is Very Expensive.
OpenAI has released its much-anticipated "Strawberry" model, officially named o1, designed for reasoning and solving complex problems like math and coding. o1 outperforms previous models in multistep tasks, but it's slower and more expensive to use, costing $15 per 1 million input tokens and $60 per 1 million output tokens. While the model is a step toward human-like AI reasoning, it's still in a "preview" phase and remains prone to some errors, such as hallucinations. ChatGPT Plus and Team users can access it now, with wider availability planned. Access is extremely limited—users can test only 30 queries per week on the big model and 50 queries per week on the mini model due to its high costs. The CEOs of Nvidia, OpenAI, Microsoft, AWS, and CoreWeave met with U.S. officials to discuss the energy demands of AI and how to accelerate AI-focused data center development. Nvidia's CEO, Jensen Huang, emphasized the need for public-private collaboration to address power constraints due to AI's rapid growth.
